Škocjan Caves are among the most important caves in the world. They are located near Divača in the limestone region of the Karst. People have always been attracted to the mysterious gorge at the end of which the River Reka sinks into the underworld. The River Reka disappears under a rock face, on top of which is the village of Škocjan that lends its name to the caves.
