Ankaran is located on the far northwestern part of the coast and borders Italy. It’s known for its beneficial climate with favourable health effects and a string of well-maintained beaches.

If you take a walk among olive groves and vineyards, you’ll reach a cliff that steeply drops into the sea at Cape Debeli Rtič. The precipitous rocks of the cliff are from 12 to 21 metres in height.

The Debeli Rtič Landscape Park is one of the rare areas on the Slovenian coast with preserved unspoilt nature and rich biodiversity. It’s home to many indigenous plants, and because of its shallow depth the bottom of the sea has many sea organisms, making it a point of interest for scuba divers. Its popular for its beautiful beaches and stunning walking paths.

Welcome to the island of green treasures

The Ankaran Peninsula and the Debeli Rtič Landscape Park are a couple of the most important tourist centres on the Slovenian coast.

    Active experiences in Ankaran

Swimming, canoe, stand-up paddleboarding, boat rides? From Ankaran to Cape Debeli Rtič and back! If you’re looking for perfect relaxation, fishing can provide that, too. If you’re fishing from a boat, you’ll need a fishing licence. A relaxing effect can also be achieved by practising outdoor yoga.

If you don’t like the water, go on a hike or a bicycle ride! We recommend the Parenzana cycling trail that will take you along the route of the former railway running from Trieste, Italy, across the Slovenian coast, to Poreč in Croatia.
