Spring through hiking and cycling
In this interim period, you will experience spring at its best on the countless paths and trails that lead through the Julian Alps, whether on foot or by bike. Since the tourist season is not yet in full swing, you will have them “all to yourself” and so why not take a few days to enjoy them?
The Juliana Trail is a circular hiking trail around the Julian Alps, approximately 270 kilometers long. It does not lead to the peaks, but through valleys, villages and towns and connects nature with local life, culture and gastronomy. It runs through the areas of Bled, Bohinj, Radovljica, Kranjska Gora and the Soča Valley, and is additionally complemented by approach stages from the Goriška Brda, which extend the route towards the wine-growing landscape. Spring is the ideal time to explore, the temperatures are pleasant, the nature is fresh green and the trails are less busy.
The Alpe Adria Trail is a 750 kilometer long long-distance hiking trail that connects Austria, Slovenia and Italy. The Slovenian part leads through Kranjska Gora, the Soča Valley and the Goriška Brda. The path offers diverse landscapes from high mountains to wine-growing hills. In spring, the conditions for walking are favorable, and nature is in full bloom.

Destinations that shape the spring experience
Each destination in the Julian Alps contributes its own part of the spring experience: views, sensations and pleasures that are unique to each destination.
Bled captivates with its views. The climb to Ojstrica or Mala Osojnica reveals one of the most recognizable images of Slovenia, Lake Bled with its island. A walk to Bled Castle adds a historical touch, while a visit to the Vintgar Gorge puts you in touch with the refreshing power of water.
Bohinj offers a more peaceful, authentic experience of nature. A walk along Mostnica and through the Voja Valley, a path to the Savica waterfall or exploring the forests of Pokljuka allow for direct contact with the unspoiled landscape.
Brda
Goriška Brda surprises with its soft, Mediterranean appearance. The hills, dotted with vineyards and orchards, invite you to take walks between Šmartno, Dobrovo and Kozana. Spring here also brings culinary experiences from wine tastings to local delicacies.
The Soča Valley brings energy and dynamism. The Soča Trail, the Kobarid Historical Trail with the Kozjak Waterfall and the Tolmin Gorges reveal one of the most picturesque valleys in Slovenia. For an additional experience, you can complete the day with a zipline in Bovec or a rafting or kayaking trip down the Soča River.

Kranjska Gora reveals accessible alpine nature. The Zelenci Nature Reserve, the Tamar Valley and the Planica area offer numerous opportunities for easy hikes in the fresh mountain air.
Radovljica combines culture, cuisine and nature. A walk through the old town, a visit to the Beekeeping Museum and paths along the Sava River and through the surrounding villages create a balanced experience.
