Bohinj is the right destination for all lovers of outdoor activities, hikers, mountaineers, cyclists, and lovers or water or winter sports. The nature there is wild and unspoilt, and there are endless adventure opportunities. From the valley, experienced hikers can even climb our highest mountain, the 2864-metre-high Mt Triglav, and many nearby peaks, too. There’s also something for people who are into mountaineering, climbing, or via ferratas. You can spend an unforgettable day in Vogel, which you can reach by gondola. It’s lively up there in summer and winter, when you can go skiing on natural snow. If you prefer to stay in the valley, you can spend a wonderful day walking around the lake, along the River Sava Bohinjka, or cycling. In winter, enjoy cross-country skiing.

Active experiences in Bohinj

Go on the Bohinj Cycling Trail, which runs along the River Sava, from Bohinjska Bistrica towards the lake. Or go to the 1535-metre-high Vogel, where you can find a bike park.

If you prefer hiking, take advantage of the long-distance trails running through the valley – the Slovenian Mountain Trail, Via Alpina (red), and the new Juliana Trail, which takes you around the Julian Alps.

A lake or a river? Canyoning and rafting are the most exciting. A kayak, canoe, or a stand-up paddleboard are also good choices. Those of you who dare to or know how to scuba dive, you can enjoy scuba diving in Lake Bohinj. And you can go swimming there, of course.
