Gravel biking

Do you know what we have in abundance in Slovenia?

And what leads through the forests? Forest and dirt roads.

Gravel biking is a kind of hybrid cycling that combines the speed and lightness of a road bike with the less-traveled dirt roads and the desire to explore.

Many cyclists sooner or later find that riding on increasingly busy roads has become a strain and an added stress, instead of a relaxing way to unwind after a busy day. Training too, of course, but training doesn’t have to mean just focusing on speed. Training is first and foremost the effort a cyclist puts in, to get better and to relax the mind and channel stress through physical exertion.

Gravel biking has emerged and proven to be an excellent compromise, allowing the keen cyclist to visit less frequented (and often more interesting routes) while still offering the joy of covering distances quickly.

The advantage of a gravel bike is that it can easily carry enough luggage for a multi-day trip.

    So where to go?

In a word, everywhere, because Slovenia is covered in forests and, as a result, there are trails that lead through them to beautiful places.

Notranjska, the Green Karst, the Karst and Brkini, the Savinjska valley, Rogla and the Ribniško pohorje… are only a few of destinations, known for good routes…there is hardly a place in Slovenia where you can’t get to by dirt or forest roads.
