Trans Dinarica
It is the first and only cycling route to connect all eight countries of the Western Balkans. The route, which connects Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Serbia, prioritizes visits to national parks, UNESCO sites, often overlooked villages and various attractions.
The route begins in the Soča Valley, along the Italian border, with the Julian Alps in the background. The route then follows the beautiful, electric emerald Soča River to the Goriška Brda wine region, before winding its way to the UNESCO-protected Slovenian Alps and then through the foothills of the Dinaric Alps before crossing into Croatia.
Perhaps an important piece of good news is that the route in Slovenia is probably the longest of all eight countries on the route, which, combined with well-maintained cycle paths, public transport and other tourist infrastructure, means that Slovenia is the right choice for anyone cycling in our part of the world for the first time.
