Pokljuka is best known for its modern biathlon centre, which regularly hosts international biathlon competitions. In winter, it is covered by a thick blanket of snow.

The slopes are set among spruce forests. Pokljuka has two sports centres with maintained cross-country skiing pistes: the Triglav Pokljuka Centre in Rudno Polje and the Family Centre in Goreljek.

The Triglav Pokljuka Sports Centre maintains the following pistes:

ROUTE 1: Biathlon part of the slopes (IBU circuit) – 3.6 km
Circular competition track, used for international biathlon competitions. Due to the different competition laps (from 2 to 4 km), it is possible to run on several versions of the course. If necessary, the steepest hills can be omitted and the route chosen to suit the runner’s skill and fitness level.

ROUTE 2: Circular route to and around Javornik mountain – 6.0 km
The route runs from the road by the car park at Rudne Polje to Javornik mountain. The circular route on the Javornik mountain runs between numerous wooden shepherd’s huts and stables and the only remaining brick building – the cheese factory. The route is renowned as one of the most scenic in Slovenia.

ROUTE 3: Two-way route ŠC Triglav Pokljuka – Konjščica mountain (end of the road) – ŠC Triglav Pokljuka.
