For centuries, the Drava has connected places, people, cultures and landscapes from Carinthia to Styria. Today, visitors can best discover this story by bike – on the Drava Bike, which leads through nature, cities, wine-growing hills, cultural heritage and local experiences along the river.
On June 18, professional cyclists will complete the route between Radlje ob Dravi and Ormož in a few hours. Visitors can experience it over several days on the Drava Bike – with intermediate stops in Maribor, Ptuj, among the vineyards of Jeruzalem and with numerous experiences along the Drava River.
Maribor, the largest city on the Drava and the start of the 3rd stage of the Tour of Slovenia, which will take place a day later, on June 19, holds a special place on this route. The riverside town combines urban energy, a rich wine tradition and numerous opportunities for active leisure. Visitors can explore the old town, Lent with the oldest vine in the world, head to Pohorje or continue their cycling exploration of Styria.
The Drava Trail offers visitors a diverse cycling experience. From the green scenery of the Drava Valley and the unspoiled nature of Carinthia, it leads past Maribor, the capital of Styria, to Ptuj, the oldest Slovenian city, and on to Ormož and Jeruzalem, where cyclists are greeted by picturesque vineyards, top-quality wines and views of the rolling landscape of Styria.
