In the Nordic Center Bonovec Medvode, the cross-country courses are homologated with the highest FIS homologation. Usually, only parts of the tracks that are suitable for recreation are maintained, while the entire running tracks are arranged during the biggest competitions.
The 2.5 km long cross-country course is constantly maintained over rugged terrain. The track is 6 to 8 meters wide and is intended for both classical and free technique.
There are also climbs on the route, and everywhere there is a passage under the climb, which allows those with less knowledge to bypass the climb. So the track is intended for everyone from beginners to competitors.
The 1.5-2 km track is illuminated and allows for evening training. The training ground is also suitable for those whose work duties prevent them from exercising during the day, so they can relax and run a few laps under the lights.
This track is also maintained for both techniques, is wide enough and allows both beginners and competitors to practice. The cross-country tracks are paved with artificial snow and groomed at least once every day with a trampling machine. There is a parking lot, toilet facilities, catering facilities next to the track, and in the sports center they have a cross-country equipment rental shop and a running school that prepares weekend and weekly cross-country skiing courses. You can hire a personal trainer, or have them set up a running course with rental equipment for your company, or even a competition.
A cross-country course maintenance fee is collected at the course. Block tickets are available for regular visitors, which are more affordable.
Those who come only for a short time and do not need a very well-maintained track can run on the lower part under Plečnik’s chapel, where the tracks are groomed a few times a month.
