In optimal snow conditions, Bohinj turns into a veritable cross-country paradise. In the upper and lower Bohinj valleys, on Pokljuka and on Soriška planina, there are a total of more than 70 km of cross-country ski pistes . Cross-country skiing has a rich tradition in Bohinj. In January 1986, the first race of the World Cup in cross-country skiing in the former Yugoslavia took place in Bohinj.
The ski pistes run through the Lower and Upper Bohinj Valleys. They are mostly circular and flat.
