Cerklje na Gorenjskem is your first contact with Slovenia as you land at our central airport.
The village of Cerklje na Gorenjskem is located where the Ljubljana Basin and the Kamnik and Savinja Alps meet, right next to Slovenia’s central airport. It is a great starting point for hiking and cycling trails and ascents to Krvavec, a skiing area.
The nearby Strmol Castle is a special landmark – it’s one of the oldest and best-preserved castles with incredible stories from the recent past.
Cerklje is a place for active visitors. This pre-Alpine town offers a wide range of experiences for active individuals, families, and those who are curious.

Cyclists will particularly enjoy themselves. There are 8 cycling trails, in valleys and mountains, where you can go on road or mountain bikes. There’s a bike park at the nearby Krvavec ski centre.
The surrounding hills and the Krvavec Mountain Centre have a network of themed and hiking trails.
In winter, skiers and snowboarders flock to Krvavec. It’s also great for winter hikes and ski touring. Night sledging is intended for the young and the old. If the snow conditions are right, you can find cross-country skiing trails at lower elevations.
There’s a popular paragliding take-off site nearby – the 1320-metre-high Ambrož.
