The Slovenian mountainbike route

(STKP)

The Slovenian Mountaineering Association has created a circular mountain bike route for enthusiastic mountain bikers, which bypasses all the major Slovenian mountain groups, measures around 1,800 kilometers through all stages and overcomes as much as 50,000 meters of elevation gain.

The Slovenian mountainbike route (STKP) is also one of the largest projects in the field of cycling and mountain trails in Slovenia, as it passes 109 checkpoints. At these checkpoints, mountain bikers collect stamps of the points achieved in the STKP Diary. Among the checkpoints are also 52 mountain huts, where you can spend the night and get some refreshments. In total, the STKP is divided into 43 stages.

The basic route of the Slovenian mountainbike route (STKP)is not particularly technically demanding, as it is intended for a wide range of MTB enthusiasts, but it is certainly demanding from time to time, in some places you will also have to push your bike, but nowhere will you have to carry it. The route leads along traffic-free side roads, field paths, forest tracks and paths. In the recommended direction, it is almost entirely navigable for well-prepared cyclists.

On the Slovenian mountainbike route (STKP), in addition to the incredible nature and cycling paths, you will also get to know the diversity of the Slovenian mountain landscape and numerous important points of mountaineering, ethnographic and technical history (Slovenian Mountain Museum, Kugy Monument, Juliana Alpine Botanical Garden, TNP Dom Trenta Information Center, Idrija Mine, Mežica Tourist Mine and Museum, Monument to the Four Brave Men in Bohinj, Pocar Homestead, etc.).
